About Figgy

Say hello to Figgy

Meet Figgy

9-year-old Figgy is searching for his forever soulmate—someone who will truly appreciate all he has to offer and give him the love and care he missed before rescue. This sweet little guy is all heart, cuddles, and personality.

Figgy made his way to us from Pug Rescue of Korea (via Los Angeles) after a long journey through rescue. Originally saved in July 2025 from a private shelter in Korea, he quickly won over everyone he met—especially his devoted LA foster mom, who cared for him from January until his journey to the East Coast in late March.

About Figgy

Known affectionately as Sir Isaac Fig Newton, Fignacious, and Figgy Puddin, he fully embraces all his adorable alter egos. He’s a laid-back companion who enjoys slower-paced walks and has excellent leash manners.

Figgy is the definition of a velcro pug—he wants to be by your side (or right on top of you!) whenever possible. When you come home, he’ll greet you with happy little “seal barks,” making you feel like the most important person in the world. Despite his enthusiasm, he shows no signs of separation anxiety—he’s just thrilled to see you.

His favorite things include:

Snuggling (his top priority!)

Back scratches

Cozy couch time

He’s gentle, polite, and refined—even with food! Figgy takes treats delicately, eats slowly, and already knows how to sit patiently at mealtime like a little gentleman. He is currently on a prescription diet for allergies and he loves it! Mealtime with multiple pets should be supervised so that Figgy eats only his food

Home Life & Habits

Pee pad trained (helpful for inclement weather)

Great in the car—he settles quickly and often naps during rides

He will need single floor living or gated stairs. He does not try the stairs in his current foster home but was doing well with training on doggie steps in his former foster home. We feel this is related to his vision, not any mobility issues

Good for most grooming, though nail trims are…very pug. He loooooves his baths and gets very excited when you ask if he wants one. He especially loves being dried with his grooming dryer which will follow him to his forever home

And yes—he has opinions! Expect commentary if a dog appears on TV or if the doorbell rings.

Medical & Care Needs

Figgy has an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), which is well-managed with a simple twice daily medication given on an empty stomach. His health and coat improved significantly while in the care of PRoK when they began treatment. He also has skin allergies and had a flare up while in foster care here in New England, resulting in a dermatology consult. The interventions implemented by dermatology were successful in improving Figgy's skin and ears. He did have a flare prior to returning for his 8 week follow up. An oral antibiotic and topical cream cleared up the infection. Figgy will likely be a work in progress, with changing weather and environmental conditions affecting his skin. We are actively pursuing the very special adopter who will be able to provide for his medical care in exchange for the privilege of the very special love of the MOST charming, devoted and appreciative pug we have met in a long time.

Additional care needs:

Eye condition (PK): requires eye drops/ointment twice daily (he’s very cooperative!) Follow ups with Ophthalmologist as needed

Skin sensitivity: history of yeast and bacterial infections, so regular monitoring and care are important. He is currently on a trial of a prescription diet and twice weekly medicated baths as well as Apoquel daily during the diet trial. Monitoring of bloodwork as directed by veterinarian if he remains on this medication

No other sources of food/treats if remains on hydrolyzed diet. Pure pumpkin treats permissible

Monthly medication costs are approximately $300.00 with his current regime including prescription dog food, eye medication, Apoquel, thyroid med and medicated shampoo. These costs may fluctuate over time, especially as Figgy's care needs are tweaked.

We are hopeful that the dermatology recommendations and ongoing plan of care will keep Figgy's skin in check, but his adopter will need to remain vigilant and commit to continuing supervised care.

Social Notes

Can be a bit bossy or humpy with other dogs—he is easily redirected

Hates to be behind a closed door, will scream in protest

Should be fed separately if living with other dogs

May chase cats—likely not the best match for most feline households

Would thrive as:

An only dog with lots of human companionship, or

A companion to a confident, well-adjusted dog

From His Foster Mom in LA

“Figgy is such a sweetheart. He listens well and gives these long, soulful stares like he’s trying to figure out what species you are. He’s funny, loving, cuddly, and affectionate—a little treasure waiting to be discovered by the right family.”
